Reason 1 – Fraud

There are MANY reasons why we left the church. LOTS. And many of them you have probably already heard, and the majority are reasons that are very common with others who have left.

Members who are still actively engaged in the church tend to be fascinated by people who have left; they can’t fathom why someone would leave…

Unless they were mislead

They didn’t understand the gospel fully

They just wanted to drink coffee

They blamed the hurt they experienced on the church but God doesn’t hurt them

Etc.

Hundreds of reasons they make up for themselves, to help them understand why someone would leave the religion.

So here; to start –

In no particular order – here is one of our reasons for leaving the church.

There have been official reports of the Mormon church misusing their finances. The Mormon church is worth a LOT of Money – like a LOT. The church falls into the “billionaire” category.

Can we even FATHOM how much money that is??

And of course with white collar crimes and wealth, it seems as though the church was no exception when they were caught with “Disclosure Failings and Misstated Filings.”

It’s fascinating to consider that with all the wealth the church has, the church still asks it’s members to

Clean the church and temple buildings with free labor

Have entirely unpaid clergy except those at the very top

Pay for your own missions

Paying for your own required temple garments

And

Pay tithing to “qualify” for temple admittance.

One would think that will the billions of dollars a church has, that they would be able to care for its members on a more personal level?

And for an organization that preaches “honoring and obeying the law;”…

they seem to be no exception for committing crimes.

If you’re thinking or telling yourself,

“It was a mistake! The church didn’t do all of that on purpose!”

“Well, people are human! That doesn’t mean the church itself approved of all of that financial mishandling!”

“The church believes in obeying and honoring the law, not breaking it!”

Then tell me.

• Why did the United States government have to step in and confront the church about its misfiling of church finances?

• If it was a “mistake,” isn’t that kind of a big one?

• The people who manage the church finances work for…guess who? The CHURCH. Who do you think their bosses are? The people they report to are?

• Isn’t the church filed under “billionaire” status? Just like other celebrities and more who are also “billionaire status” and have been found out to do illegal things with their money?

Why are we defending a billionaire organization?

Why are we immediately jumping to the defense of the church regarding the charges the United States government found them GUILTY of?

Why are we defending an organization that requires its members to pay them 10% of their money to enter heaven? (See blog post “Paying money to enter heaven).

Why?

Because members don’t want to believe that the church they’re paying their money too…

Is not exempt from financial corruption.

But sure; keep paying your tithing.

Trust them to do what they say they will with your money.

Don’t want to shatter those rose-colored glasses (faith) now, would you?

Imagine shaming someone for leaving the church –

because they believe that their Church should obey the law and not cause financial crimes.
