The majority of all things “Christian,” believe it or not;
Actually came from PAGANISM;
And as ex-Mormons,
We consider ourselves “pagan;”
Pantheistic pagan, to be exact.
Believers in nature, Mother Earth; the seasons.
A lot of Christian religions like to hate on pagan religions or systems of belief;
While at the same time…
Not realizing that a lot of what Christians and other religions do??
Is actually
PAGAN.
We already wrote an article about Thanksgiving.
So now it’s time to spill our thoughts on another…

Halloween 🎃
This one is controversial.
We know that there are a ton of Christian’s and Mormons who do NOT celebrate Halloween.
But some Christians and Mormons,
DO celebrate it;
And then deny the origins from which it came.
And many Christian’s are actually confused and misinformed about Halloween;
Considering it a “satanic holiday,”
Rather than what it really is.

Halloween in paganism is called “Samhain.”
Samhain is a seasonal celebration;
It marks the END of the harvest season,
And the arrival of winter, or the darker parts of the year.
It is believed that the veil between the spirit world is thin during Halloween season; so spirits and mortals can more closely interact with one another. Ancestors visit, etc.
COSTUMES = GUISING
Old pagan traditions would wear costumes; animal skins, masks, etc. so that spirits would think that they themselves are also spirits roaming the earth at Halloween night.
Dressing up isn’t satanic;
Dressing up actually warded off negative or “evil” spirits.
Dressing up was protection!

Many pagans would offer food offerings to spirits on Halloween night as well;
Another form of protection from spirits.
Bonfires?
Warding off evil spirits.

Carving pumpkins into scary faces?
Also a pagan tactic to ward off evil spirits; a means of protection against evil spirits.
A Christian claiming that they don’t celebrate Halloween and don’t carve pumpkins…
Are actually making themselves more susceptible and vulnerable to “evil spirits” around Halloween;
Because they don’t engage in protective rituals against the “evil spirits” that roam the world on Halloween night.

Trick or treating?
Also Pagan.
With roots regarding leaving out treats for the spirits so they don’t play “tricks” on you!

Kind of ironic to say that Halloween is demonic and evil,
When actually??
It’s protective.
Halloween is not an enemy to Christian’s.
In fact;
It protects and deters “evil spirits” that may roam the world on Halloween night,
When the veil is a little extra thin.

So the next time you
Dress up in a costume,
Carve or paint a pumpkin,
Watch a Halloween movie,
Hand out candy or go trick or treating…
Remember.
You’re engaging in pagan rituals;
And Warding off evil spirits;
NOT inviting them in.
